History

 The Institute for Law and Economics Studies or Lembaga Studi Hukum dan Ekonomi (LSHE) is an institution within the University of Indonesia Faculty of Law. Formerly LSHE was known as the Pusat Studi Hukum dan Ekonomi, or Center for Law and Economic Studies, which was established in 1985.  LSHE’s first chairman was Professor Charles Himawan, a legal scholar who received his SJD from the Harvard Law School. Presently, LSHE is chaired by Professor Erman Rajagukguk who received his Ph.D from University of Washington.

LSHE has been active in many research activities. It has produced academic drafts of laws (undang-undang) in the area of economic law. It has also been consulted frequently on law reforms in Indonesia.
